NOTICE OF RACE

4^th Annual Bear Island Regatta

CRESCENT CITY YACHT CLUB INC.

1 RULES

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of

Sailing 2009 - 2012.

2 ADVERTISING

Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the

organizing authority.

3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1 Entrants will be divided in the following categories

          3.1.1 Offshore any boat over 20 ft.

3.1.2 Dagger Board or less than 20 ft.

3.1.3 Spinnakers must be registered prior to the Captains meeting

3.1.4 Any boat that uses a Spinnaker during the race but did not indicate it on the registration form will be disqualified.

3.2 A minimum of four boats will constitute a class

3.3 Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and sending it,

      together with the required fee, by October 1, 2011  to

4 FEES

4.1 Required fees are as follows:

• All classes $40.00

4.2 Fee includes skippers dinner

4.3 Other fees:

• $5.00 discount off of the registration fee for US Sailing, SAIL or CCYC

         memberships.

• $5.00 fee for each crew or family members dinner.

5 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

5.1 Registration:

Friday October 7 at 3 Bananas from 6pm till 8 pm.

Saturday, October 8 at 3 Bananas from 8:00 am till 10:00 am.

5.2 Date of Racing: Saturday, October 8, 2011

Captains meeting @ 10:15

5.3 Start sequence at 10:55  Race committee will signal boats over early at the start in accordance with the RRS   

6 VENUE

The regatta will be held on Lake Crescent in Crescent City, Florida.

7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be available after 1800 on October 7, 2011

8 COURSE

8.1 Courses will be contained in the sailing instructions.

8.2 Course is long distance race.

8.3 Course will be windward-leeward marks north and south of Bear Island. The length of the course will be 12 nautical miles.

8.4 Course may change in length due to wind conditions

9 SCORING

9.1 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.

9.2 All boats will be scored Portsmouth according to U.S. Sailing

9.3 Boats who use a Spinnaker will change their Portsmouth rating and must be registered before the Captains meeting

9.4 Any boat that uses a Spinnaker during the race but did not indicate it on the registration form will be disqualified.

10 SUPPORT BOATS

10.1 Support Boats will be marked with a CCYC flag.

11. PRIZES

11.1 Over All Champion Will Receive the Golden Goat Head

11.2  First Place winners will have their name engraved on the Golden Goat Head plaque at 3 Bananas

11.3 Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers of their class.

12 BERTHING

12.1 Slips are available at 3 Bananas

12.3 Launching and set up can be done at two areas; on Central Avenue and the Margery Neal Sunshine Park by the Crescent City Water Tower

13 RADIO COMMUNICATION

Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmission while

racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This

restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

14 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4.

Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for

material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or

prior to, during or after the regatta.
